Costello Calls on Greyhound to Get its Own House in Order Before Issuing Threats

by Cllr Joe Costello

Greyhound Recycling and Recovery must withdraw its ultimatum to not collect the bins of householders in Dublin whose account is not in credit.

Since Greyhound took over the waste collection service from Dublin City Council, I have been dealing with numerous complaints from people whose bins have not been collected. Greyhound's collection system is clearly inadequate. This is causing particular problems in the inner city, where uncollected bin bags are being ripped open by dogs, scattering rubbish on the street.

Households who are currently getting no service from Greyhound have no incentive to pay the waste collection charges. Greyhound needs to get its own house in order, and it should immediately withdraw its threat and, instead, concentrate on implementing an effective waste collection system.
