Gardai must reassure public after brutal shooting - Costello

Minister of State and Labour TD for Dublin Central, Joe Costello, has expressed grave concern at the shooting of four people at Hanlon’s Corner in North Dublin City last night.

“The shooting this morning of four people at Hanlon’s Corner, North Circular Road, Dublin 7, has shocked the local community. One man is critically ill in the Mater Hospital while three young women were shot in the legs and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

“I live in the neighbourhood and I know that such acts of violence are totally uncharacteristic of the area. The indiscriminate nature of the shooting highlights the murderous intentions of the culprits. That a 21st birthday party should end in such a brutal fashion is unacceptable in a civilised society.

“Gardai must ensure that the perpetrators of this terrible crime are brought to justice quickly and that the local community is reassured that the Gardai are in control of policing in the area.”
