Costello condemns continued lockout of Greyhound workers

Labour TD, Joe Costello, has condemned the lockout of Greyhound Recycling and Recovery workers since June 17 this year.

"Greyhound would not let the workers work when they refused to immediately accept pay cuts of up to 35 percent, and the workers were replaced by agency staff.

“It is totally unacceptable that the Greyhound workers are locked out of their jobs. It is essential that the workers be allowed to return to work immediately and that a full settlement is then negotiated under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission.

“Last year was the centenary of the 1913 Lockout. The centenary of the Lockout helped us to recall how, in the face of powerful interests, the workers of 1913 stood up for their rights of collective action, dignity and justice. Like the workers in 1913, the Greyhound staff want nothing more than a fair share of the fruits of their labour.”
