Dublin tech university would enhance education in city - Costello

I welcome the decision by the Dublin Institute of Technology, the Institute of Technology Tallaght and the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown to move collectively towards becoming a new technological university.

The international evaluation panel have given the trio of institutes of technology the green light to progress and formally merge into a single academic entity.

The next and final stage is the actual designation of the new grouping as the Technological University for Dublin. The consolidation of the resources and services of the three ITs in Dublin will greatly enhance the provision of technological education in the city and surrounding counties.

The new DIT campus being developed in Grangegorman will itself consolidate the six faculties of DIT scattered around Dublin at present. When the Grangegorman development is complete, it will be the jewel in the crown of Dublin’s new Technological University.
