IAG fail to address Aer Lingus concerns

8 March 2015

by Cllr Joe Costello

The meeting between IAG and the Aer Lingus group of unions on Friday, 6 March, appears to have been something of a damp squib.  IAG are fully aware of what is required for a formal bid to be considered.   However, they have not responded with any detail. Instead IAG and their cheerleaders have made nebulous statements about how good the deal would be for everybody.

They have not responded to the questions that have been put to them:

1. Are IAG in favour of an independent valuation of Aer Lingus and the Heathrow slots?

2. Are they in favour of Registered Employment Agreements for the Aer Lingus workforce?

3. Are they in favour of long-term guarantees for the Heathrow slots and if so will they outline the nature of these guarantees?

4. Are they in favour of regional promotion for Shannon and Cork airports?

5. Do they have a plan for the future short-haul and long-haul operation of Aer Lingus within the IAG family of airlines and if so will they outline the nature of this plan?

It is time for IAG to produce the goods.
