Gangland crime is casting a pall over our city

2 July 2016

Statement by Joe Costello

The shooting dead of a man yesterday in Bridgefoot Street who was a resident of Cabra is another gangland killing in the Inner City in the growing saga of such crimes.

This killing may or may not be related to the recent feud which caused the deaths of seven people from the North Inner City as the dead man had been the target of an assassination attempt last year.

However, this is small consolation.  It merely highlights the existence of other gangs who are committing serious crimes and killing people in various parts of the City.

Gangland crime and gangland feuding is casting a pall over our City.  Gardaí must now show that they can speedily and effectively deal with the criminal gangs which are rampant here and being directed from abroad.
