by Cllr Joe Costello

Joe Costello TD, the Minister for Trade and Development, has called on Iarnród Éireann to work closely with the local community to minimize disruption during the construction of a new over-bridge spanning the railway line and canal at Reilly’s Bridge on the Ratoath Road, Cabra.

The bridge will link the Ratoath Road from about 300 metres south of the railway level crossing to the Ballyboggan Road junction to the north.  Works will include the construction of 500 metres of road, a bridge over the railway and canal and a junction with the Ballyboggan Road.  Work is to begin this month and is due to be completed by the start of 2015.

Costello stated that “It is essential that local residents’ concerns about noise, traffic disruption and rat-running are addressed during the construction of the new bridge.  I will work with the local community to ensure that Iarnród Éireann fulfils its obligations to the local community, and I urge local residents to engage with the company to overcome any problems that arise. ”

Local residents and businesses can contact Iarnród Éireann’s community liaison for the duration of the works at 1890 253555 or communityliaison@irishrail.ie.
