Joe Costello TD has welcomed that seven new primary schools are to be developed, three of which will serve his Dublin Central Constituency.
Deputy Costello said “I welcome today’s announcement by my Labour colleague, Minister Jan O’Sullivan of the establishment of three new primary schools to serve my Dublin Central Constituency. The new schools reflect the growing population in the area. The new schools are to be located in Pelletstown/Ashtown, Cabra/Phibsboro and Drumcondra/Marino. The Pelletstown/Ashtown primary school will be established by September 2015, and its patron will be Educate Together. The other two schools are due to open in September 2016, and their patrons will be decided later this year.
“The state will invest approximately €24 million in the seven new schools announced today by Minister O’Sullivan, and this investment will support some 240 direct jobs and 48 indirect jobs.
“The Labour Party in Government is delivering on a wide range of new education facilities in Dublin Central. Already, 16 schools in Dublin Central have school construction projects completed or in various stages of development. These projects range from renovation work to create new autism spectrum disorder units, to new classrooms to replace prefabs, to entirely new school buildings.
“The announcement of three new schools will add greatly to the provision of primary education in the constituency of Dublin Central.”
