Costello confirms that there is no threat to Cabra Post Office

In a Topical Issue debate in the Dáil today, it was confirmed to Deputy Joe Costello by the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Alex White, that there were no plans to close any Post Office in the Cabra area of Dublin.
During the debate, Deputy Costello stated “Post Offices play a vital role in supporting our communities, and I strongly believe that our Post Office network must be helped to thrive in urban and rural areas.
“In the four and half years of this Government from 2011 to 2015, 24 net closures took place, compared to the 198 in the three years of the previous Government from 2007 to 2010. Moreover, I know that the Minister is personally committed to supporting the Post Office network.”
In response, Minister Alex White stated that An Post have no plans to close any post office in Cabra. He also outlined the contents of the interim report of the Post Office Network Business Development Group chaired by Bobby Kerr, which encourages multi-use and new and diverse services to promote the Post Office network into the future.
