Seminar on the development of the Dublin Docklands
26 November 2015
by Cllr Joe Costello
Dublin Central Labour TD Joe Costello is coordinating a major seminar on the Development of the Dublin Docklands on Friday, 27th of November, at the Dublin Docklands Development Authority offices, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1.
Deputy Costello said: “The seminar is the culmination of a year of activities on how to ensure the social and economic regeneration of the Dublin Docklands. The Dublin Docklands is an area with a rich history and strong sense of community. However, it is beset by ingrained social problems and has been let down by previous government’s attempts at regeneration.
“I have worked with a broad range of stakeholders over the last year to ensure that, this time, the Dockland community’s benefit from both a social and economic regeneration.
“Tánaiste, Joan Burton TD will give the opening address. The seminar includes an interesting range of speakers, including Frank Daly, Chairman of NAMA; Brendan Kenny, Assistant City Manager, Dublin City Council; Evanne Kilmurray, CEO of Inner City Enterprises; and Phillip Matthews, President of the National College of Ireland. The topics that will be discussed are education and training, housing, employment and enterprise, and community, heritage, sport and culture.”
